Creation of Time
What do you think "creation of time" means? do you think it begins from a beginning of a day? Then what should be the begining of time for two people living in two different time zones in earth?
First of all we would like to emphasize that “time” as a physical term and “time zone” conception are so different from each other. As far as we are concerned, this is what confuses you.
“Time” as mentioned in the ayah and proved in science, has been created with the creation of “matter” and “universe”. According to the recent scientific measurements, big –bang occurred 13, 7 billion years ago and that was the beginning of the universe and the time. There was no space, no universe and no time before that.
This theory also supports the ayah:
“The number of the months with Allah is twelve months by Allah's ordinance in the day that He created the heavens and the earth.” (Surah al Tawba, 36)
As implied in the ayah, “time” was created with the creation of heavens and the earth.
However, earth has been created approximately 4, 5 billion years ago and long after that, in the 19th century, as the international communication and trade developed, people felt their need for a “standard global time” as a result of social, commercial and legal purposes. Thus, “system of worldwide time zones” has been applied to ease the global communication since then.
In conclusion, “time” did not start with the beginning of a day or with sunrise; it started with the creation of the universe. So, when it was created, there was no sun, no earth, no human and no time zones materially. So, for anyone in the universe, the beginning of the “creation of time” is the same, no matter in which time zone they are.
The only one who is free of space and time is Allah (swt) who is the Creator of all beings.
