" Morals "
Is the person who breaks his promise regarded as a liar?
Is it a kind of lie if I give a promise but do not keep? Is breaking a promise considered lying?
Giving a promise is like being in dept
If you have a promise to keep, it is as if you have a dept to pay. You should never ignore it.
Promises to children should never be broken
As stated in the following hadith, if the promises given to the children are broken, it is recorded as a lie.
Narrated Abdullah ibn Amir: My mother called me one day when the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) was sitting in our house. She said: Come here and I shall give you something. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) asked her: What did you intend to give him? She replied: I intended to give him some dates. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: If you were not to give him anything, a lie would be recorded against you. “If anyone of you promises his child something, he must fulfill his promise.” (Bukhari)
Giving promises that you will not keep is a cause of wrath
“O ye who believe! Why say ye that which ye do not?
It is most hateful in the sight of Allah that ye say that which ye do not.” (Surah As-Saff, 2-3) Kaynak: http://askaquestionto.us - Is the person who breaks his promise regarded as a liar?
