 Who is the Real Generous?

Who is called "the real generous"? How should "generosity" be to gain Allah's consent?

Answer:

The real generous is the one who does not expect appreciation in return

Ali Zayn al- Abidin, the son of Hadrat Husayn, stated as following:
"The one who intends to give his property away to them asking for is not ranked as "generous". Generous is that who starts with them worshipping Allah and with laws of Allah. In return, he doesn't expect for even appreciation; because his trust in the reward of Allah (swt) is accurate and complete." (Ihya-u Ulum-id Din)
Allah (swt) promises in the Quran that He will repay the generosity of a believer.
And whatsoever good thing ye spend, it is for yourselves, when ye spend not save in search of Allah's Countenance; and whatsoever good thing ye spend, it will be repaid to you in full, and ye will not be wronged.” (Surah al-Baqara, 272)

The real generosity is the one that’s for the sake of Allah (swt)

It is asked to Hasan Basri (ra) “What is “generosity”? “ He responded: “Your doing generosity with your property for the sake of Allah.” (Ihya-u Ulum-id Din)
"Say: "Verily my Lord enlarges and restricts the Sustenance to such of his servants as He pleases: and nothing do ye spend in the least (in His cause) but He replaces it: for He is the Best of those who grant Sustenance". (Surah as-Saba, 39)

The real generous is that who can give all his property away in case of necessity

Imam Shibli was asked: “What are the compulsories (fards)?” He said “They are love of Allah (swt)” as a response. When he was asked “What is sunnah?” he responded “Abandoning the world(ly pleasures)”. When he was asked “What is the amount of zakat?”, he responded: “Giving your whole property away”. They asked him” Who is your imam (leader) in this doctrine?”, Imam Shibli answered: “Abu Bakr Siddiq; because he gave his whole property away. After giving the whole away, he had just his clothes on him. Moreover, Gabriel came to the Prophet (pbuh) in clothes similar to his.” (Maqasid-ut Talibin)
As a matter of fact, when Abu Bakr accepted Islam, he had 40,000 dirhams with him. He spent the whole of this amount in the cause of Islam. The Holy Prophet acknowledged that he had utilized the wealth of Abu Bakr more than the wealth of any other person. When the Holy Prophet invited contributions to finance the Tabuk expedition, Abu Bakr had the unique distinction of contributing all that he had. Kaynak: http://askaquestionto.us - Who is the Real Generous?
