 Do Humanbeings Have five Souls?

I heard from someone, at the time of one's birth, one has 5 souls. Is there any such concept?

Answer:

Allah determines the date soul leaves the body with death when He gives the soul at the fourth month of the embryo at the first place

"Such is Allah, your Lord (The Grantor of the blessings). There is no God save Him, (He is) the Creator of all things, so worship (alone) Him. And He taketh care of all things." (An’aam, 102)
"He it is Who created you (first) from dust, then from a drop (of seed) then from a clot, then bringeth you forth as a child, then (ordaineth) that ye attain full strength and afterward that ye become old men - though some among you die before - and that ye reach an appointed term, that haply ye may understand, He it is Who quickeneth and giveth death. When He ordaineth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! and it is." (Surah Mu’min [Ghafir], 67-68)
Narrated Abdullah:
Allah's Apostle, the true and truly inspired said, "(as regards your creation), every one of you is collected in the womb of his mother for the first forty days, and then he becomes a clot for another forty days, and then a piece of flesh for another forty days. Then Allah sends an angel to write four words: He writes his deeds, time of his death, means of his livelihood, and whether he will be wretched or blessed (in religion). Then the soul is breathed into his body. So a man may do deeds characteristic of the people of the (Hell) Fire, so much so that there is only the distance of a cubit between him and it, and then what has been written (by the angel) surpasses, and so he starts doing deeds characteristic of the people of Paradise and enters Paradise. Similarly, a person may do deeds characteristic of the people of Paradise, so much so that there is only the distance of a cubit between him and it, and then what has been written (by the angel) surpasses, and he starts doing deeds of the people of the (Hell) Fire and enters the (Hell) Fire." (Bukhari, Book 4, Volume 55, Hadith 549)
There is no conflict between ulama on the soul’s being given to the embryo after the 120th day of it. And this means it completes the forth month and starts its fine month. Thus we cleared this issue with the hadith (Al-Jamiu Li Ahkam-il Qur’an)
In every corpse there are two souls, one is Ruhu’l yaqada, the other is Ruhu’l hayat.

Ruhu’l yaqada:

As long as this soul resides in the body the individual is awake.

Ruhu’l hayat:

As long as this soul resides in the body, it is alive, once it leaves the body, the body is dead.
Narrated 'Abdullah bin Abi Qatada:
My father said, "One night we were traveling with the Prophet and some people said, 'We wish that Allah's Apostle would take a rest along with us during the last hours of the night.' He said, 'I am afraid that you will sleep and miss the (Fajr) prayer.' Bilal said, 'I will make you get up.' So all slept and Bilal rested his back against his Rahila and he too was overwhelmed (by sleep) and slept. The Prophet got up when the edge of the sun had risen and said, 'O Bilal! What about your statement?' He replied, 'I have never slept such a sleep.' The Prophet said, 'Allah captured your souls when He wished, and released them when He wished. O Bilal! Get up and pronounce the Adhan for the prayer.' The Prophet performed ablution and when the sun came up and became bright, he stood up and prayed." (Bukhari; Book, 1;Volume 10; Hadith, 569)
Related to the “Allah captures your souls when He wishes, and releases them when He wishes” part of the hadith, Izzu'bnu Abdi's-Salam makes the following explanation: “In each body there are two souls. One is “Ruhu’l yaqada”; as long as this soul is inside of the body the individual keeps awake. When the person sleeps, this soul leaves the body and dreams. The second soul is “Ruhu’l hayat”. According to the divine laws relating this subject, as long as the soul resides within the body, it is alive. Once soul leaves the body, it dies. But when the soul returns back to the body, it comes to life again. That means the soul is inside of the body. As to the exact pleace of these two souls, it is only known by the people whom Allah informed. These two souls are like the two embryo in a woman’s one womb.”
Our scholar’s explanation is as the following with an ayah from the Qur’an: “Allah receiveth (men's) souls at the time of their death, and that (soul) which dieth not (yet) in its sleep. He keepeth that (soul) for which He hath ordained death and dismisseth the rest till an appointed term. Lo! herein verily are portents for people who take thought.” (Surah Zumar, 42)
And the interpretation of this ayah is as the following: “Allah captures the sould of the dead in his death time” means; Allah captures the souls -whose deaths are determined- by his side in the sleep and doesn’t let them go back to the body. As to other souls, “Ruhu’l yaqada”, He send them back to the bodies until their determined time comes. Such is ajal (determined time) is death ajal (death time). When this time comes, He captures both the Ruhu’l hayat and Ruhu’l yakada together, and doesn’t send them back to the body, thus the death occurs.
