Is Botox Permissible?
Is it permissible to use botox and opening business places for botox?
Answer:
"And surely I will lead them astray, and surely I will arouse desires in them, and surely I will command them and they will cut the cattle' ears, and surely I will command them and they will change Allah's creation. Whoso chooseth Satan for a patron instead of Allah is verily a loser and his loss is manifest." (Surah, an-Nisa: 119)
Narrated Alqama:
'Abdullah (bin Masud) said. "Allah curses those ladies who practice tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those ladies who remove the hair from their faces and those who make artificial spaces between their teeth in order to look more beautiful whereby they change Allah's creation." (Bukhari, Book 6, Volume 60, Hadith 408)
Botox is to inject a bacteria protein right under the skin with needles in order to remove the wrinkles over the skin as a result of natural actions such as smiling, laughing, anger, frustration or squinting. This is a protein excreted by a bacterium named Clostridium botulinum. This substance temporarily reduces the function of the muscle in the applied part of the face by blocking the electrical message from the nerves to muscles. Once the muscle cannot flex losing their function, the wrinkles of the skin over the muscle are reduced or removed. Botox doesn’t make a permanent change over the face. But it heals the wrinkles of the specific parts of the face.
Aesthetic operations applied to the body are haram since they mean removing what Allah created by changing the disposition. But in the conditions which happen as a result of an illness or an accident aesthetic operations are permissible since these are done for the purpose of treatment because body is harmed by an accident.
As it is clearly told by the hadith botox is classified as a fancy use to remove the wrinkles. Though it is not an operation, it is still clear that it is “destroying what Allah created and changing the natural condition of the human nature” That’s why, botox is not permissible.
In Malaysia, Islamic ministers have prohibited Malaysian Muslims from submitting to Botox treatment for cosmetic purposes because the substance contains forbidden and harmful compounds. The National Fatwa Council issued the proclamation sometime in 2006 but stated that using Botox for medical reasons for example, cerebral palsy sufferers, is permissible to use if necessary.
Council Chairman, Shukor Husin, said that Botox contains extracts from pigs, and that the council ruled on the issue after studying reports by local and international specialists’ as well as religious edicts from the Middle East.
“Whoever causes to a good deed gets the good deed (thawab) of doers of it both during his life and after his death. And whoever becomes a cause to a bad deed, all the bad deeds (sin) are written in his book untill this bad thing is given up." (Tabarani)
It is clear that all the operations are prohibited if they are done with easthetical purposes and fancy. That’s why; of course opening business places for these kinds of operations are not permissible. Because, it is also clear by the hadith that causing to a bad deed or good deed is like doing it.
