 What Is Religious Festival?

What are the festivals in Islam? What does religious festival "eid" mean?

Answer:

Linguistically,"eid" means the day of happiness and pleasure. Religious eids are the ones during which the communities from various religions celebrate with pleasure in certain dates. There are worships special for these eids.

In Islam, there are two eids called Ramadan (Eid ul-Fitr) and the Feast of Sacrifice (Eid ul-Adha):
Ramadan and Sacriface eids have been celebrating from the first year of Hijrah. As they are ordered according to the lunar calendar differently of the national festivals, religious festivals each year are celebrated ten days earlier than the previous year.
The day before the eid is called "arafa day". Worships done in arafa day are so acceptable.

Ramadan eid starting in the first day of Shawwal continues three days. The Feast of Sacrifice starting in the tenth day of Dhu'l-Hijja is four days.
Religious Eids are Allah's gifts for Muslims who stay away from sinning and are cleaned from sins with their worships and keeping their pledge.
Religious eids given as blessings for many admirable benefits are good occasions to strengthen the brotherhood mentioned in the Quran. Because huffiness and resentment are culminate in them and new coalescences come into existence. By the virtue of Eids, visiting friends and relatives as a kind of worship is denoted inQur'an Karim with this ayah:

“Heed Allah in whose sake you have been making requests from each other, and (avoid breaking) the ties of kinship! No doubt, Allah is the ever-watcher over you.” (Nisa: 1) Kaynak: http://askaquestionto.us - What Is Religious Festival?
