 Is It Appropriate to Eat from the Alawi People?

Is it appropriate to eat what is served in an Alawi friend’s house? Is it lawful and halal?

Answer:

“This day are (all) good things made lawful for you. The food of those who have received the Scripture is lawful for you, and your food is lawful for them.” (Surah Maida, 5)
Eating the food of all people are halal provided that their income is halal (lawful) and the food is also halal (lawful) on condition that their income is from a lawful source. If the food itself is not halal then eating from it is also unlawful.
