Why is not it proper to delay breaking the fast?

Is it permissible to delay breaking the fast? What is the importance of breaking the fast on time?

Answer:

To delay breaking the fast is a tradition of the Christians and the Jews

Narrated Abu Hurayrah:

“The Prophet (pbuh) said: Religion will continue to prevail as long as people hasten to break the fast, because the Jews and the Christians delay doing so.”  (Abu Dawud, Kitab al Siyam)

It is narrated from Anas Ibn Malik (ra) that:

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) didn’t use to perform maghrib prayer unless he broke the fast, at least he used to take a sip of water.

The reason of hastening the breaking the fast is:

“When The Jews and the Christians fasted, they used to delay breaking the fast until the stars appeared. In order not to imitate them, to break the fast quickly is regarded as mustahab. To delay sahur until the last time is also mustahab.” (Bukhari)

“The most pleasant of my servants is he who hastens to break his fast quickly”

It is stated in a hadith qudsi that:

“The most pleasant of my servants is he who hastens to break his fast quickly.” (Tirmidhi: Sawm, Ahmad Ibn Hanbal)

Narrated Sahl bin Sad: Allah's Apostle said, "The people will remain on the right path as long as they hasten the breaking of the fast."  (Bukhari: Sawm, Muslim: Sıyam)

There is forgiveness at the fast breaking time

“At every fast breaking time Allah (swt) saves some people from Hell that almost deserve it.” (Tabarani, Bayhaqi)

The supplications are accepted at the fast breaking time

Our Beloved Prophet (pbuh) said on the issue;

“Three men whose dua is never rejected (by Allah) are: the fasting person until he breaks his fast (in another narration, when he breaks fast), the just ruler and the one who is oppressed” (Tirmidhi)

It is virtuous to break the fast with dates or water

“When one of you breaks his fast, break it with a date. Because it is abundance. If you can’t get it, then break the fast with water, because it is pure.” (Tirmidhi, Ibn Mace)

Allah (swt) puts/creates pleasure in the heart of fasting person at the time of the breaking the fast

“There are two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast, and the other at the time when he will meet his Lord; then he will be pleased because of his fasting.” (Bukhari, Muslim) Kaynak: http://askaquestionto.us - Why is not it proper to delay breaking the fast?
