 Is It A Sin for A Muslim to Wear A Cross as An Ornament?

Is it wrong if I wear a cross as an ornament since it is a gift from my friend?

Answer:

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said;
“He is not one of us who imitates people other than us. Do not imitate the Jews and Christians.” (Tirmidhi)
According to another version reported by Imam Ahmad: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.”
A proper Muslim should have characteristics of the Muslims with both his clothes and his attitudes. However, cross is a religious symbol of Christianity representing the crucifixion of Jesus and also a sign of their attachment to their beliefs and faithfulness.
